How can you tell what dreams mean?

ever since ive been pregnant ive had horrible dreams. like a really bad delivery and falling off cliffs and weird tragic things. i was wondering if they mean anything or if it it caused by hormones?

Hi Sarah,
It sounds like this is your first pregnancy. Pregnancy in general brings on all kinds of crazy dreams due to the shift in hormones. In addition to that, if this is your first, you are staring into an unknown, you won't really know what it is like to deliver and raise a child until you get there. That is what the part about falling off of cliffs is about, you have a huge unknown in front of you, and you are afraid of losing your step, so to speak, you worry what is going to happen, will the baby be healthy, and the enormity of the commitment you are about to make to another life. Congratulations, and best wishes for a safe and healthy delivery...

Edit: Interesting, I just took a quick look at your other questions, and according to another one you asked, this is your 4th pregnancy, but things are going a little bit different? You have successfully delivered 3 other children? That things seem to be going a bit different could be at the root of this anxiety, perhaps...

Ok..you're pregnant, and you're dreaming of bad delivery or tragic things.. think carefully.. what else happens in the dream? This could either be telling you something bad will happen- and your dreams (mind) are warning you, or-- it could be just because you're nervous or worried..or even anxious.. it's common.. I used to be terrified of needles, and I'd dream of the worst dreams days before I had it.. but it always goes well.. ^_^..

What happens in your dream specifically? Are you giving birth (even if it is bad) to a human, or something other? do you die during this? Or does the baby perhaps have an illness, or die?

Non-human birth: You're fearing something, most likely about the birth or the baby's health. This is actually quite common, especially in the 2ndpregnancy.

Do You Die During Birth: This speaks of two things. Death, and birth. This could symbolize throwing away old habits and beginning new, good ones.

Most commonly, you could be dreaming (as I already mentioned) this simply because you ARE pregnant, and you are anxious or worried. Also, because you can't help but think about it.

I hope this has helped some, and congrats on your new family member! May he/she be born well, with good health.

All bad things in dreams mean something. Not all actually mean bad things either. To dream that you are pregnant with the baby dying inside of you suggests that a project you had put a lot of effort into is falling apart and slowly deteriorating. Nothing works out the way you want it to.

If you are really pregnant and having this dream, then it represents your anxieties about the pregnancy. Women in the first trimester of their pregnancy tend to dream of tiny creatures, fuzzy animals, flowers, fruit and water. In the second trimester, dreams will reflect your anxieties about being a good mother and concerns about possible complications with the birth. Dreams of giving birth to a non-human baby are also common during this period of the pregnancy. Finally, in the third trimester, dreams consists of your own mother. As your body changes and grows, dreams of whales, elephants and dinosaurs and other larger animals may also start appearing at this stage.

To dream that you fall and are not frightened, signifies that you will overcome your adversities with ease. To dream that you fall and are frightened, indicates a lack of control, insecurity, and/or lack of support in your waking life. You may be experiencing some major struggle and/or overwhelming problem. It may denote that you have failed to achieve a goal that you have set forth for yourself.
