Example: What are some inspirational quotes related to birds?

I'm thinking about getting a tattoo of a bird, and I'm also thinking about getting some sort of quote next to it. I've found a few good ones but I was just wondering if anyone knew of any more. I want it to be fairly short and simple and somewhat inspirational.

Here are a few I've found so far:

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly. -Langston Hughes

Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings. -C. Archie Danielson

The bird of paradise alights only on the hand that does not grasp. -John Berry

It is not only fine feathers that make fine birds.
Aesop (620 BC - 560 BC), The Jay and the Peacock
One swallow does not make a summer.
Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC), Nichomachean Ethics
How helpless we are, like netted birds, when we are caught by desire!
Belva Plain
I realized that If I had to choose, I would rather have birds than airplanes.
Charles Lindbergh (1902 - 1974), Interview shortly before his death, 1974
A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.
Chinese Proverb
Fall is my favorite season in Los Angeles, watching the birds change color and fall from the trees.
David Letterman (1947 - )
I hope you love birds too. It is economical. It saves going to heaven.
Emily Dickinson (1830 - 1886)
The moment a little boy is concerned with which is a jay and which is a sparrow, he can no longer see the birds or hear them sing.
Eric Berne (1910 - 1970)
I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance that I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn.
Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862)
Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best.
Henry Van Dyke
Those little nimble musicians of the air, that warble forth their curious ditties, with which nature hath furnished them to the shame of art.
Izaak Walton (1593 - 1683)
God loved the birds and invented trees. Man loved the birds and invented cages.
Jacques Deval, Afin de vivre bel et bien
The very idea of a bird is a symbol and a suggestion to the poet. A bird seems to be at the top of the scale, so vehement and intense his life. . . . The beautiful vagabonds, endowed with every grace, masters of all climes, and knowing no bounds -- how many human aspirations are realised in their free, holiday-lives -- and how many suggestions to the poet in their flight and song!
John Burroughs (1837 - 1921), Birds and Poets, 1887
I value my garden more for being full of blackbirds than of cherries, and very frankly give them fruit for their songs.
Joseph Addison (1672 - 1719), 'The Spectator'
I know why the caged bird sings.

Our avian brothers are back to roost on the first leg of their annual sojourn south. Why them and not us? Maybe it's because we humans are meant to be rooted in one spot.
Mitchell Burgess, Northern Exposure, The Bad Seed, 1992
There'll be bluebirds over the white cliffs of Dover,
Tomorrow, just you wait and see.
Nat Burton, White Cliffs of Dover (song, 1941)
There is nothing in which the birds differ more from man than the way in which they can build and yet leave a landscape as it was before.

Example: X FACTOR: Did you just hear that screeching coming from the TV?

I glanced at the TV for a second and all I saw was a claw and there was this really bad screeching sound. Did anyone else hear that?

Example: OMG! My cat brought back a dead bunny with worms in it, is he contagious?

Ok, I get home... and I see my cat with a bunny in his mouth. The flipping bunny had monster-like worms crawling out of its neck and other holes.. The worms looked like they came from that movie "Dream Catcher" Absolutely disgusting 2 inch long black worms.. I'm pregnant so I'm freaking out! I don't wanna get sick.. What do I do? How do I disinfect my cat? and I have another cat.. which is an inside cat. :( The vet is closed now, otherwise I'd be calling him. Thank u in advance. BTW, I don't think my cat actualy was eating the bunny... cuz it looked nasty and it was dead for a long time with parasites in it.. Eeeeeeeewwwwww

Example: Need help with this poem?

This poem seems like either she's dreaming about the day her husband died, or its telling the story of how she waited for him, he didnt come, then she's at his funeral? I'm bad at deciphering poems so I would appreciate you're answers/opinions.

Title:Mangoes

The woman in a blouse
The color of daylight
Motions to her daughter not to slouch.
They wait without luggage.
They have been waiting
Since before the station smelled
Of cigarettes. Shadows
Fill the doorway and fade
One by one
Into bloated faces.
She’d like to swat at them
Like the lazy flies
That swarm her kitchen. She considers her hands, at rest
Like pale fruits in her lap. Should she
Gather them in her skirt and hurry
Down the tree in reverse, greedy
For a vivid mouthful of something
Sweet? The sun gets brighter
As it drops low. Soon the room
Will glow gold with late afternoon.
Still no husband, face creased from sleep,
His one bag across his chest. Soon
The windows will grow black. Still
No one with his hand always returning
To the hollow below her back.Desire is a city of yellow houses
As it surrenders its drunks to the night.
It is the drunks on ancient bicycles
Warbling into motionless air,
And the pigeons, alseep in branches,
That will repeat the same songs tomorrow
Believing them new. Desire is the woman
Awake now over a bowl of ashes
That flutter and drop like abandoned feathers.
It’s the word widow spelled slowly in air
With a cigarette that burns
On its own going.

Example: What do you think of my Epic?

Paraphrase of Genesis, in the manner of Nonnus

The Argument

The creation of the world in seven days. The Creation of Adam and Eve in detail. Of Man's banishment, and of the creation of the first vice. The exile of Cain to Nod, and the creation of cities. Of Cain's son, Enoch, and of his deeds. The death of Enoch at the hands of his wives, following which a grevious condemnation of all womenkind. Of the heroic generations leading to Lamech. Of Lamech birth, and his education.

(Invocation of the Muses)

Of sylphs and demons who haunts the lea
who fills the hall with majesty
The bards and lyre (those warbling lyres
the sound that sets the soul a-fire)
Sing, like moons, of sexual bees
heedless of what great Jove decrees

(The wrath of Oscar Wilde, occassioned by the death of Arthur Wellesley)

With coy eyes and rose red lips
(impure, impious, those blaspheming lips
tempts me to the narrow way
to heaven's gate, to heaven's sway)
He sells me a book for twice the price
'To bake a stew in the time of Christ'
Presumptuous me! what reason have I
To ever think that man could fly?
The sounds of words might fill thine ear
It makes me quake with frankish fear,
Each every man, his place demand
And all around, it's all my hand
Sophie's baby, though not two
A friend, an enemy, through and through
His youthful face and crimson ears
What! Think I, I am a bear!
Touches some wheel, or verges some goal
It's but parts we see, and not one whole.
Ah, silly he, more silly sheep
I hills and mountains once shall leap,
I must ask, what's life and death
A drunkard's dream, and there's my breath
Floating through the moonless night
The streets are rivers of steel and light
The latins, I think, says it best
'That life's mechanical, there's no rest!'

Example: I think we have a spirit in the house, its freaking us out help!?

Ok first of all, all of these weird coincedences have only happened recently...

And recently my fiance was taken to hospital because she had taken an OD without apparently knowing she'd done it, also alot of negativity in the relationship has arisen, its getting better now, but we were having a big rough patch for about 2 weeks...

Ok,

About 2 days after the hospital, when she was discharged back home, I had a pint of beer, and left the pint glass on the kitchen side, sat in the living room for about 20 minutes watching TV, then we heard a huge bang, it was the glass, shattered into tiny pieces, the base of the glass was the most broken, as if someone had picked it up and slammed it down...

The next occurence was me... I had fallen asleep, for about 40 minutes, and something had woken me up, when i opened me eyes i had ''thought'' i had seen a white hazy figure directly infront of me causing me to jump, which also woke my fiance up, i had said to her it was just a bad dream, but it was real, i was awake when i had seen the hazy figure...?!

Another one, me and my fiance were playing our xbox 360, we had been having a chat about trying for a baby whilst it was sitting on the console dashboard, and it starting navigating itself up and down on the TV. it would then stop when we noticed it or tried to egg it on to do it more, then whenever the word baby or pregnancy came out, it would do it again, and once it flipped through 10 page blades in 1 second, which isnt possibly even if someone had the controller, eventially the xbox restarted itself and the TV went onto the blue screen, we didnt touch anything...?

Our 2 kittens have been coming up to our bedroom alot, they never seem to stay downstairs, and weirdly sleep at night with us (cats dont usually do this, they usually play at night) and they make weird chirping noises as if they have seen a fly or a bird, but there isnt any...

My fiance had a bath one day, when she got out, she didnt unplug it, came out to the sitting room for a while and when she went to unplug it, she came running out to ask if i had unplugged the bath, cos it was unplugged and the chain was at the opposite end of the bath...

Last week, we were asleep, and heard 3 loud knocks on the bedroom wall, freaked us out and considered it to be the neighbour, fell back to sleep, happened again, same 3 knocks, with the same amount of timing, the next morning, our neighbour complained at us, saying we were making noise, when we were actually asleep... of course he didnt believe our denial...

We have a purple foily type chandolier directly above our bed, last night it was moving, there was no windows open, no draft and no breeze outside, but it wasnt the whole thing that was moving, it was one single piece on the chandolier which was moving 180 degrees, and looked unnatural, it would move, come to a dead stop, and another one would do it, it stopped whenever we both looked at it.

Our daughter ''4'' was in the bedroom playing, she had asked me to come upstairs to help find her makeup set, couldnt find it, so i had walked downstairs to look in her pink cabinet, she burst out crying for no reason, when her mother asked her why she was crying, she said she was scared, and that she could see shapes moving under her bed? (i know kids can make things up, but she really was crying aggressively, and will take this into consideration).

And the big one that freaked the hell out of me was last night, my fiance in bed, i was asleep all of a sudden she started making a weird, screaming (without the high pitch/loudness), warbling, cry at 03:17 i had asked her wtf was wrong, she started crying saying she saw a black figure in her daughters bedroom (yet she is asleep in ours?) and that she tried reaching out for me whilst she was making this weird noise, but couldnt say my name, or anything, or move her arms as they felt weak and numb... i turned the light on and as we talked about it the chandolier was moving quite frantically... about an hour later we calmed down and fell back to sleep, it happen again at 04:17, by this point i was freaked out, but we fell asleep again, then yes it happened again, at 05:17 but was more aggressive, i got pissed off with her impulsively and tried to ignore it, she told me she saw herself in our mirror which is on the front wall, near the bed, but she was laid down, nowhere near the direction of being able to see yourself...

Now its today and im writing this down, I really don't know what i'll get out of it but to say the least i've wrote it down of our experiences, we are now looking at moving at, quite inconveniant before xmas, but we dont want this to carry on as we are loosing sleep for work, and loosing our sanity!?

Cheers for reading guys =)
