Example: What is the meaning of these dreams?
Some years ago I dreamt of a desert area in which I was running. It was afternoon and the sun was overhead, hot and burning. I saw some people pouring some soil-like liquid on an old man tied to a pole. I ran away scared , into a den. There I saw Lord Shiva, angry , with his trident pointing towards me. We circled each other . It seemed as if we were enemies . Then he suddenly chased me and I started running in panic and I woke up.
Recently I saw a dream in which I was in a den.The view outside revealed a pleasant , cool atmosphere. It was morning. In the den I had before me Lord Shiva.I was touching his feet and he was blessing me.
These dreams were vivid and are real, not a made-up story. What do you think they imply?
Do dreams in our time have special meaning?
What have researchers learned about dreams?
“Everyone dreams,” says The World Book Encyclopedia (1984, Vol. 5, p. 279). “Most adults dream for about 100 minutes during eight hours of sleep.” So dreams are a normal human experience.
Said Dr. Allan Hobson, of Harvard Medical School: “They are ambiguous stimuli which can be interpreted in any way a therapist is predisposed to. But their meaning is in the eye of the beholder—not in the dream itself.” When reporting this, the “Science Times” section of The New York Times added: “Within the school that places great value on dreams, there are many approaches to finding the psychological message of a dream, each reflecting different theoretical outlooks. A Freudian will find one kind of meaning in a dream, while a Jungian will find another, and a Gestalt therapist will find still another meaning. . . . But the view that dreams have psychological meaning at all has come under strong attack from neuroscientists.”—July 10, 1984, p. C12.
Can dreams that seem to impart special knowledge come from a source other than God?
Jer. 29:8, 9: “This is what Jehovah of armies . . . has said: ‘Let not your prophets who are in among you and your practicers of divination deceive you, and do not you listen to their dreams that they are dreaming. For “it is in falsehood that they are prophesying to you in my name. I have not sent them,” is the utterance of Jehovah.’”
Harper’s Bible Dictionary informs us: “Babylonians had such trust in dreams that on the eve of important decisions they slept in temples, hoping for counsel. Greeks desiring health instruction slept in shrines of Aesculapius [whose emblem was a serpent], and Romans in temples of Serapis [at times associated with a coiled serpent]. Egyptians prepared elaborate books for dream interpretation.”—(New York, 1961), Madeleine Miller and J. Lane Miller, p. 141.
In the past, God used dreams to give warnings, instruction, and prophecy, but is he leading his people in that way now?
References to such dreams originating with God are found at Matthew 2:13, 19, 20; 1 Kings 3:5; Genesis 40:1-8.
Heb. 1:1, 2: “God, who long ago spoke on many occasions and in many ways [including dreams] to our forefathers by means of the prophets, has at the end of these days spoken to us by means of a Son [Jesus Christ, whose teachings are recorded in the Bible].”
1 Cor. 13:8: “Whether there are gifts of prophesying [and at times God conveyed prophecies to his servants by means of dreams], they will be done away with.”
2 Tim. 3:16, 17: “All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching . . . that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.”
1 Tim. 4:1: “However, the inspired utterance says definitely that in later periods of time some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired utterances [sometimes conveyed in dreams] and teachings of demons.”
Example: What Did This Dream Mean?
Recently, I've been thinking about this dream I had 2 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter. I lived in my own apartment alone. I took a nap in the recliner and dreamed this black figure (looked like a person) was sitting on my couch and got up to come over to my chair. I kept trying to open my eyes and I just couldn't. It bent down closer to me then stood straight up and disappeared into the kitchen. I never had a dream like that again. What do you think it meant?
Example: What does this dream mean?
I was at some government sponsored program with my group at this moderately large facility that was created for entertainment purposes and I got on one of the trains thinking that it would take me along a scenic tour of the entertainment / camp grounds but after getting on the train I realized that the train was going in a straight direction rather than a circular round direction and that it wasn't going to return to it's original destination. I figured I would get off the train before I left the camp grounds (and assumed that the train covered a small section of that camp ground) but I stayed on the train too long and got way off the camp grounds. Then I called them to ask them where I was, and I realized I was lost.
Somehow, I ended up back at the camp grounds. I was at this old camp that I went to a couple of months ago, and the guy that I was crushing on was there too. We were going through this obstacle course that was supposed to simulate what life would have been like if we had lived in Nazi Germany during world War II as a Jew and I felt uncomfortable going through the obstacle course cause there were times where I felt like they were using the leather head rest they placed around my neck to choke me for the purposes of making me uncomfortable and nauseous. In my dream the rest of the park was normal and created half by technology and half by nature but it wasn't extremely technology or extremely natural.
Afterwards, I was hanging out with a bunch of people who belonged to the same government group as me and I told them "I want to go visit that park again just so I can talk to Toni" (which was the guy that I liked) then David looked at me very smugly and said "beauty fades" and I realized they all thought I was an idiot for basing my romantic relationships on physical attraction.
Then I dreamed that I was walking around the shopping store with a Dan (another guy I used to like) we were walking from left to right and I told him "I'm a loser, I'll do anything for a good looking guy." and I started telling him about my obsession with this really handsome, skinny, fit, tall and perfectly dressed guy named Tyler (who is German) We were at the Eatens or the Bay.
That's when I woke up
Example: What does this dream mean?

Example: What does this dream mean?
I had a dream that there was a performance at church and the guy who leads worship at my old church was the lead actor in the play. He was on a wooden stage similar to the stage in elementary, middle or high schools and in my dream he had the same name as my summer school professor.
Example: What does my dream mean?
I have had two dreams (one last night and one a couple of weeks ago) involving Orlando Bloom, a celebrity I am not a fan of and not really attracted to. In my first dream he was my ex and was dating Sienna Miller. He kissed me as a joke, but then we ended up getting back together. In the dream last night he was very, very drunk and we hooked up again.
With the first dream I just thought it was very random and weird, but now that I've had another dream with him in it in the same sort of situation, I'm thinking it's got to mean something.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. :)
